What do you usually go to create a virtual host? If I am right, then you will copy the default file, change the contents, add entry in host file and then you will enable the site, right? Well, if you are thorough with the above steps, then I would advise you not to waste your time any more by repeating the steps each time you need to create a virtual host, because I am going to provide you a script using which you can easily create a virtual host.

Recently, we came across an error - "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server" while trying to run a new virtual host on our Ubuntu 14.04 machine. The first step to troubleshoot this type of issue would be to check at your Apache error logs as this specific type status can be thrown due to many reasons. Since we have Apache 2.4.7 installed on our system, each virtual host file should have the .conf extension. We corrected the extension also. But the issue was still there. However this information lead us to think on it further and finally we found the reason for the issue.

When your trying to implement a new feature(say a module or theme) in your local machine for a website, first thing you have to test is the compatability in all browsers. If you want to test your feature in multiple machines, its not always easy to download and setup on each machine. In my case, I am using Ubuntu and I have to always test compatability of a site in IE browsers which cannot be installed in ubuntu. So what I did here is created a virtual host for my site in my local machine and using my ip address I created a virtual host in other machines so that I could easily access all my sites in my local machine from diffrent machines.
