GAIA stands for Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives. It is an alliance of nonprofits striving to reduce pollution globally by spreading awareness of environmentally sustainable waste management techniques. GAIA is a group of social workers committed to the vision of a toxic free world grounded on the principles of justice and clean living. The Alliance consists of more than 800 grass root groups, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in over 90 countries who actively demonstrate how to discourage incinerators, address climate change, counter environmental injustice and ways to implement zero waste alternatives. GAIA also strives to bring awareness to the fast depletion of our planet's finite resources due to the current way of life of many.
